If I play a local file, the module works, but if I input a url for a playlist .asx on my media server or a publishing point URL or an .asx url on Akamai, I get:

Silverlight error message
ErrorCode: 1001
ErrorType: MediaError
Message: AG_E_UNKNOWN_ERROR

Suggestions?

Yes, we recently discoverd this fault and believe it has something to do with the Silverlight Plugin.  We are investigating a solution asap.

Don't know if this helps, but in my test install of the Silverlight sample Video Library, I had no problems with .asx files in the main.js file list.  The following example includes both some .asx files on Akamai as well as some of the original media files:

Hmm... I'm reading on the Silverlight forums that SL has no support for server side playlists.  True?  Any idea on plans to change this?

Thanks,

Ahh, now I see another link that says Silverlight DOES support playlists:

Just to address the original issue raised in this post, the new version 43.01.07 fixes the issue of linking to external URLs.

Hi, Thanks.  So I take it you have a new build for Silverlight RC1 then?  How do I get the new module/update?

Well, we did an update to fiix the linking issues..

Then what do we find today. MS releases RC1 and our product stops working.

You might think... well fix your product (and we will) but we are very ticked (some may say pissed) off at MS.

The beta release was listed as a "GO LIVE" product. This means that the core programming we do for the product should work with all future versions. "GO LIVE" means exactly that.  Code is good. Make products and make them live.

So not only are we confused by the non function, but we are ticked off if it because they have changed something they should not have changed after makeing it "GO LIVE".

From here... we are going to wait a day or two, because there is a chance that the update for RC 1.0 is the problem and not our code. I cannot verfy this yet, and untill we can work out what has changed, we are not going to patch.

Once we work out what MS is doing (and is may be druggs) we will then resolve any issues and release a patch.

Yeah, thought it might be something like that...

Please add me to your notification list when the patch goes out.  Thanks!
