OK, I'll start...  (United States) Modified By Eric on 9/20/2010 10:30:56 AM
v45.05.13 threw the following during install, just thought I'd put this in here before proceeding in the install (DNN 5.4.x).

Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: - C:\inetpub\DotNetNuke\portalname\Install\Temp\cntfvkgd\microsoft.crm.sdk.dll

And Host/Extensions throws this:

A critical error has occurred. Could not find a part of the path 'C:\inetpub\DotNetNuke\portalname\Install\Temp\sr1fefqd\Pivot.dnn'.

Re: OK, I'll start...  (Australia)
It appears we dropped a .dll into the incorrect location in our package. We have published a new package now that is Pivot Module 45.05.13a. Please download that package from our DNN Module download page.

Sorry that we dropped the ball on this one.

Re: OK, I'll start...  (United States)
Thanks, that took care of the install, but now the site crashes with the following so rolled back for now -

"Could not load file or assembly 'microsoft.crm.sdk' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

This was on Windows Server 2008 64-bit / DNN 5.5.0.

We worked out the issue with the 64 bit server thing, and have repackaged with a version .14. Available on our site now.

OK, now it installs and plays nice. On to other issues -

  • I haven't installed/activated a license - not sure I want to yet - yet the fresh install gets me a 1-day trial? Which drops to 0 when I refresh the page?
  • I click "Open DNN Pivot" and get an another error thrown by Silverlight - "ParsingError / Error parsing http://mydomain.com/Portals/2/publish.cxml?token=ZmxDR..."
  • When checking to make sure that the scheduled job ran successfully, I have to edit your schedule item because you neglected to assign a "Friendly Name"

Re: OK, I'll start...  (Australia)
1. As far as the trial screen appears, it is still OK to use. 0 day means it will expire within 24 hours.

2. Parsing Error means either the CXML colloction did not generate successfully or the IIS was not configured to have cxml http handler. Is it possible to have a host login to take a look?
One other way to verify is copy the DNN pivot URL and paste it in either FF or IE see what you get.

3. I will take a look see if this is an issue.

Re: OK, I'll start...  (United States)
1. Right, basically a 1-day trial - that's ridiculous.

2. To click your button "Copy DNN Pivot URL" (in the View control) results in a mostly empty page with the word "False" on it - another bug. When taking the pivot url that fails, and putting direct through the browser results in the following: "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Crm.Sdk, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
at iwebs.Modules.PivotCRM.Helper.GetCRMUsers(HttpRequest request) at iwebs.Modules.PivotCRM.CXMLCRMUserController.GetCXML(HttpRequest request, HttpResponse response)"

To click the same button above (when in Edit control) simply does nothing.

Some others -

Script error when module loads:
Message: Object requiredLine: 14 Char: 3 Code: 0URI: http://www.mydomain.com/DesktopModules/Pivot/js/ZeroClipboard.js

We hear your concerns about the short trail. For this reason we are extending it to a 5 day trial. We still believe that is should only be a short trial as the ability to abuse the trial remains there.

Regards the error, we have a hunch about the cause, and will contact you directly to get some login details to resolve this for you.

We logged in an tested with the user details provided. We found the Pivot module to be running fine. Actually could not fault it at all. The module for us worked fine in the Silverlight mode and in the MS Pivot Browser.

We sent an email reply to the message you sent us to provide login details.

Re: OK, I'll start...  (United States)
Yeah, I wonder about the scheduled task that gets created and run on installation. Even though it indicates "success," there might be something else at play that was preventing the module from working. Cache perhaps?

But yes, trying it again after leaving it alone for a few days shows a working pivot module.

It would be helpful if you could post some details on what might happen with this module under load - both in the initialization of a pivot, and the analysis of many thousands of user records.

Also helpful would of course be additional pivots, and the ways to implement them.

Re: OK, I'll start...  (Australia)
We suspect that the copy button may be at fault. Actually one of the hardest technologies to get running in that module is the simple button that copies a unique URL to clipboard. We have not found a reliable way to do this with all browsers, so we are implementing browser detection and a bunch of different ways to handle this. That is the likely cause of your issue.

The actual background server load is relatively small. This is because we use the scheduler process. We have tested around 80,000 contacts and there is no real problem on data creation.

The technology does need to load all initial data on first load of the view. This takes some time with 80k users and is probably past the point of being what was intended. However for server load, it is nothing really as it is just data down, like viewing a video file or downloading a big .zip or something.

So from the server load side, nothing untoward with this.
