After installing the Word add-in, I found it wasn't enabled by default.

I am receiving an error that says Not loaded.  A runtime error occurred during the loading of the COM Add-in.  (See screenshot).

Can you please advise a solution around this?

Sorry for the delay, it appears that the normal email notification of your message was not sent.

Anyway, can you confirm that you have..

1. Closed all instances of MS word.
2. Gone to the add remove programs
3. Uninstalled DNN word editor.
4. Then gone back to the website and reinstalled the application from the download link in the web page you installed the module on?

I closed Word.  I removed the DNN Word Editor using Add/Remove programs.  I went back to the website and re-added the Word add-in.

I received an installation successful dialog.  Then, when I went into Word Options, I found that the add-in still could not load due to the same error.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Is word running the latest service pack?

Are you running any Anti Virus?

Have you just tried this, or was this some time ago?  as there is a new version of the plugin for word.. so if this is old info, please try agan.

I am running MS Word 2007 SP2.  I am not currently running any anti virus software.  This is all new information.  I installed the trial yesterday when I initiated this thread.

There is a settings change you can make on your computer to make it pop up the failure message causing this.

In My Computer / Right Click and go to advanced settings.

Go to Environmental Variable.

set (the environment variable)
VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS = 0
VSTO_LOGALERTS = 1
Visual Studio Tools for Office creates the log file in the folder that contains the application manifest
 <Manifestname>.manifest.log

By default on a non-developer machine the VSTO runtime will not display loading errors.  Setting this environment variable will help you determine the nature of failure.

These two environment variables did not previously exist, so I added them.

I then attempted edit in Word.  I was able to verify that the original error message still appears.

I am having trouble locating the log file you indicated.  Can you better identify some file paths I should look in for the log file?

Thank you.

Having heard nothing recently, I decided to try it out on a different computer in the office.  I found it to work on a Windows 7 computer we have here.  In an effort to test reliability, I created a new DNN instance on a development server using 4.9.5.  When I went to install the Word Editor module, I get an error...
Warning
Install aborted - The module being installed is older than the version which is already installed in your host application

Any ideas?

The frigging DNN mob have released a new editor version number in the latest update. We are having to back hack thier code (because they have not posted the current source of the text / html module for over 7 months).

So we have a new version, that we will release today. This will allow install on DNN 04.09.05.
